Gone are the days of the shaky home-video, the muffled audio, and soppy musical accompaniment, modern videographers are using state-of-the art HD equipment, the latest editing techniques and capturing the personal and intimate moments of your day, providing you not only with moving memories, but completing the story of your day.
I am a huge believer in the value of both wedding photography and videography, the lasting memories of your day. Video adds another layer to the memories, capturing the emotion and atmosphere of your wedding day.
Kelly is one of the new breed of videographers. Kelly is a female videographer with a passion for weddings and film making, having been a bride herself she knows what it feels like to walk down the aisle and the importance to capture the result of years of planing the big day.
I asked Kelly about her work at Kelly Southby Fillms
Describe your style
I film in a documentary style: I film the wedding as it unfolds, with as little interruption as possible to the flow of proceedings so that it is a natural reflection of the day itself.
What’s on your equipment list?
I use the latest Sony camcorders that allow me to capture every detail in crisp high definition along with the latest Sony microphones to ensure the clearest sound possible on your day.
Why should couples consider a wedding video for their big day?
Your wedding day usually flies by in such a fast blur, after all is said and done, you have only the photographs and video to remind you of all the special moments that took place. We also capture things that the bride and groom don’t get to see on the day and we also record all the speeches.
What advice would you give them in choosing a videographer?
Make sure you like their work and that you get on with the videographer as they will be with you throughout your whole day. Make sure that you have seen a few complete highlights of the weddings they have filmed.
What does being involved in the wedding industry mean to you?
I love meeting new people and experiencing new places and cultures. Every wedding is so different, even though they all follow a similar format, as each couple is unique.
It’s always great fun hearing how couples met. I also love the creative challenge of filming weddings. Even though I have filmed many weddings you still have to deal with the unexpected at each wedding. There’s no second chance, you have to get it right first time.
